On October 2, 2026, Scott Clerk successfully defended his thesis titled “The Impact of Power and Positioning Differences on the Internationalization Strategies of Latin American Flagship Universities.” Based on a comparative case study of four flagship universities, the thesis examines how their positions within the global academic hierarchy shape their internationalization strategies. It finds that more centrally positioned universities are better able to focus on the Global North, while more peripherally positioned ones pursue internationalization within their own subregion of Latin America.
Congratulations, Dr. Clerk!
